Inflectional Endings
endings such as -ed, -ing,-s, or -es to a root word changes the meaning of the word When -ed is added to the end of a verb, it means that the action took place in the past. When -ing is added to the end of verb, it means the action is happening now. When -s or -es is added to the end of a verb, it means the action is of a happening now. When -s or -es is added to the end of a noun, it means the noun names more than one. |

*Most nouns can be made plural by adding -s to the end of the word. * Nouns that end in s, x, z, ss ,ch,or sh are made plural by adding -es. *Nouns that end with a consonant and a y are made plural by changing the y to an i and adding -es. *When a noun ends with a vowel and a y, an s is added. |
